So this is Still a Big Kid;a toy blog written by me, Alex, all about toys. Which I've got a shed load of, so I might as well have something to show for it- other than heaving shelves and a depleted bank balance. I'll be covering everything I buy, such as Lego, Pop Vinyl figures, Neca, Hot Toys (when I can afford them), Sideshow Collectibles (see Hot Toys), revoltechs. Basically, if I buy a toy, I'll review it.
But this blog will also include model builds- sharing my meagre skills and knowledge, but still learning as I go; customising- because sometimes your figure isn't up to scratch or just plain sucks, as well as tips for cheap accessories or dioramas. And not forgetting simple fun. Because toys are meant to be enjoyed- whether you keep them mint on the card or tear them out of the box. So expect the odd bit of tomfoolery like this...
The graphics on this new Smash Bros is amazing! |
So lets start with a quick look of Funko's blind box Frozen mini-figure, Sven. This stylised version of Kristoff's best friend is 1 of 17 mini-figures.
As you can see, Sven is realised in a different style than the that used in the actual movie, but is nicely realised and still has a good resemblance to the movie design, and has well sculpted details, such as the link on his harness. As all good figures have, the sculpt is accentuated with good, clean paint apps. The only downer, asthetics-wise, are the very apprant seam lines, especially the one that goes down the center of his face, but overall, he's a nice little figure, and certainly looks the part. And there's a great selection of characters, including the overlooked Marshmallow and troll. However, being a blind-box toy it means getting the character you want - *cough* queen Marshmallow *cough*- is a £7 gamble- which I think is a tad too steep for such a small figure- and being inside a box, there's no way (as far as I know) to tell who's inside, there's no bag-groping- like you can do with Lego blind-bags- so if you have your heart set on one particular figure, or the whole line, then you'll have to weigh up the potential cost of buying from a ebay scalper versus blind luck at seven pound a go. Be lucky.
